When photography posing at a wedding, unless you know how to compensate or have taken the shot purposely for effect; remember the background is very important. Often when there is a good background there are just too many people in the shot, so if this is the situation, just try and capture a nice head and shoulders shot of the couple.
Although you don't always think about it at the time, try to ensure those wedding guests wearing spectacles either take them off or provide you with a semi-profile shot. To avoid people in the shot coming out dark when the sunlight is behind them, unless you know what you are doing, move them so the sun is behind you.
A zoom lens will often enable you to take pictures that would not otherwise be possible as people are not so conscious of their photo being taken. Allays be ready for the next digital wedding photograph because you can't ask people to repeat those unforgettable moments that everybody wants to see again and again.

When you want a stranger to pose for you.
When want to take a picture of one or more strangers, make sure and ask them if it is ok with them for you to take their picture. If they don't mind then you can often get them to make some very nice poses for you, which will result in some great pictures, but if you don't do this you could have all kinds of troubles now and later.
Of course there will be times when you see a great shot allready ready to be taken and you just have to take it and then try to get in touch with everyone in the shot later, if possible. All you can do is try your best and if you can't contact everyone and someone later sees the picture somewhere just tell them sorry and take it down right away, if that is what the want. You could even offer to send them a blown up copy of the picture.

Photography Posing - Some Facts:
Many photographers book portraiture sessions and don't lay down firm guidelines for what the clients should wear, you MUST tell them, advise them in an assertive and professional manner, show them examples of how shots are ruined by the wrong choice of attire.
For example:
Imagine this, you contact your clients 'Mr and Mrs Smith and Family' to discuss their portraiture session. You first quietly say "It may be better if you all wear white tee shirts". Mrs Smith, doesn't respond, she has her own firm ideas about what she will wear. You then proceed to change the subject and gloss over the topic hoping she has heard you...you smile and say nothing more.
Next thing you know is the day has arrived and they turn up in the most ghastly outfits imaginable, none of which compliment the other!
Remember, clients know ONLY their OWN preferences for clothing style. WE must teach them our known preference, what we know from experience will give a classic image. In the above example, Mrs Smith was more assertive than you were, and as a result spoiled not only her own family portrait but your chances of higher sales too!
You need to convince the Mrs Smiths of the world that you know from experience what will give the best results. This is a new guide out that goes into this much deeper.
