Have a firm vision of the end result you want from posing

Professional and amateur photographers alike sometimes hit a wall on unique posing techniques. When taking portraits of the human body, it is sometimes tricky to focus the subject, get angles correct, and make a unique shot. Once you do know what you want, communicating that to your subjects is sometimes difficult. Having a firm vision of what the end result should be will help you communicate what you want from the model or subject.

There are so many elements to consider with photography. Lighting, mood, accessories… posing seems like it should come naturally. But as those behind a camera know, sometimes the tilt of the head or angle of the body make or break an otherwise fantastic shot. There are ways to learn the secrets through expensive books or photography classes. You could always go the trial and error route. But doesn’t that seem silly when you consider the expense involved - not only with the financial end, but time and energy expended on finding the right fit.

There are many online sites that will give you a tip here and there that may assist you in taking better photos, but who wants to search all day for a few good ideas?
