Talk to your photography posing subjects and/or clients first.
Before setting up your photography posing shot you should usually have a meeting with the posers and/or the person paying for the shot to find out exactly how the hope to be portrayed in the shot. If not you could end up upsetting them with an image that is different then what they hoped for, which won't lead to many more jobs. Find out who is going to be viewing the finished photos and how they want to be seen by these viewers.
